ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Gary Kubiak bristled at the suggestion he might still be worn down after a week away from football. No, do I look weak? the Denver Broncos coach said.Well, truthfully, his voice was a little bit faint.Thats probably because Ive been hollering a lot this morning, Kubiak said. But, no, I feel good. And I feel really good just getting out here and getting going again.Kubiak, 55, returned to work Monday, a week after his doctor ordered him to take time off after he suffered a complex migraine and was hospitalized overnight following Denvers loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Oct. 9.Kubiak certainly had plenty to howl about.During his absence, the Broncos, led by special teams coach Joe DeCamillis, were beaten 21-13 by the San Diego Chargers, who snapped their 10-game losing streak in the AFC West and Denvers NFL record 15-game divisional road winning streak. The loss followed a familiar script: slow start, poor play up front, conservative calls. It was good just being able to have our leader back, cornerback Chris Harris Jr. said. He kind of lights a fire under everybody, get everybody going, coaches, players, everybody. So, its good to have that accountability back in the room.He just kept it straightforward with us, told us what we needed to do. We need to get it going in the right direction. I mean, thats what you need to hear from your coach, especially after you lost two games like that, Harris said. He just pretty much told us the last two games just pretty much looked the exact same, so we need to change what we do.The Broncos (4-2) host Houston (4-2) on Monday night in Denvers first game against former longtime backup QB Brock Osweiler and Kubiaks first game against his former team.Kubiak was coach of the Texans in 2013 when he had his first health scare, suffering a mini-stroke during halftime of a game against the Colts. He missed 10 days then and returned, to the coaching box at first.Hes expected to be on the sideline Monday night.Kubiak said his doctors in Denver and Houston have compared notes but he doesnt believe the two medical incidents are related. He said his latest health scare was basically a warning sign that he needs to get more sleep.I feel really good, Kubiak said. I got too much rest, unfortunately. I didnt want it. But I got it. I feel very good. ... All my tests came back great. So, its good to be back to work. I really missed a few days there. It was really tough to watch, so Im glad to be back.Kubiak watched the Broncos latest loss with his son, Klein, a Broncos scout, from his home in Denver. Its tough. Weve got to play better, Kubiak said. I told the players today, the last two games for us looked a lot alike, unfortunately.Game notes Kubiak said rookie RB Devontae Booker is getting more adept at blitz pickup and I think he deserves more opportunities to handle the football, especially after gaining 46 yards on five carries against the Chargers. ... The Broncos claimed OL Billy Turner off waivers from the Ravens. To make room, they waived OL Darrion Weems. ... LT Russell Okung and WR/KR Cody Latimer both are in the concussion protocol but attended practice on a sunny day, a hopeful sign theyll be able to return this week.---AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and AP NFL Twitter feed: www.twitter.com/AP-NFL---Follow AP Pro Football Writer Arnie Melendrez Stapleton on Twitter: http://twitter.com/arniestapleton Danny Green Jersey. JOHNS, N. Matt Bonner Jersey.Y. -- The Buffalo Sabres have recalled forward Kevin Porter and defenceman Chad Ruhwedel from the minors as part of a five-player roster shuffle made by the NHLs worst team. http://www.spursnbateamshop.com/manu-ginobili-spurs-jersey/. Most important, perhaps, it went off without a hitch. Organizers poked a little fun at the now-infamous opening ceremony gaffe that saw only four out of five snowflakes open up into rings, leaving the Olympics logo one ring short. Manu Ginobili Jersey. A statement from the worlds top-ranked player says all checks "were satisfactory and showed positive evolution" regarding the injury, which contributed to his loss to Stanislas Wawrinka in the final in Melbourne. "I worked my entire life for it, and it has been taken away from me in one afternoon by a doctor I didnt know," said Troicki, whose ranking peaked at No. EVANSTON, Ill. -- After missing all of last season following shoulder surgery, Vic Law has returned like someone looking to make up for lost time.Law scored a career-high 26 points -- his second straight game establishing a new mark -- to lead Northwestern to an 86-72 victory over Eastern Washington Monday night in a Legends Classic opening-round game.Law, who had 19 points in the season opener, was 7-for-13 from the field.I just thought he played with great confidence, coach Chris Collins said. I really liked how he attacked the basket.Law, a 6-7 redshirt sophomore, was expected to be one of the Wildcats top players this season, though Collins wasnt sure what to expect at the start.I know hes really good, but I was a little apprehensive, the coach said. Its not easy sitting out a year and jumping right back in.Bryant McIntosh had 18 points and Scottie Lindsey and Dererk Pardon each added 12 as Northwestern improved to 2-0.Bogdan Bliznyuk led Eastern Washington (1-1) with 25 points on 10-for-18 shooting. He had 20 points on 8-for-13 shooting in the first half.Jacob Wiley added 19 points on 8-for-11 shooting for the Eagles.Bliznyuk had four points and took only three shots in the season-opening win over Division III Linfield.Northwestern quickly jumped out to a 15-point lead (24-9) less than nine minutes into the game and it appeared a second straight blow out was in order following the 94-63 opening win over Mississippi Valley State. But Eastern fought back and pulled within 42-36 in the final minute of the first half. The Eagles were wiithin six points (53-47) early in the second half, but that was as close as they would get -- although Northwestern never was able to open a comfortable margin.ddddddddddddIm really pleased with how we played, Eastern coach Jim Hayford said. I wish we could have played the first 10 minutes like we played the last 30 minutes. We definitely leave here with great respect for Northwestern, and I think we earned some respect from them as well.SHARP SHOOTINGAfter going 1-for-7 from the free-throw line in the opener, Law was 9-for-10 on Monday.I think the first game I missed all the free throws so I could set a new career high tonight, he said jokingly.BIG PICTUREEWU: The Eagles were picked to finish fifth in the Big Sky in a preseason poll of media covering the conference following last season 18-16 finish. If nothing else, this is a scrappy bunch that played physical on both ends and refused to quit after falling behind early on the road against a Power 5 conference team.Northwestern: Although the season is only two games old, Law clearly has emerged as the Wildcats best player. The redshirt sophomore, who missed all of last season following shoulder surgery, has the versatile game and athleticism to be a threat every night.UP NEXTEastern Washington plays at Texas on Thursday in a game thats also a part of the Legends Classic.Following a pair of home wins, Northwestern plays its first road game Wednesday at Butler.
