COLUMBIA, Mo. -- New athletic director Jim Sterk did not shy away from addressing the social issues that have beset the Missouri campus the last 12 months, saying Thursday that he wants to foster an inclusive, diverse and successful environment.I have a fresh start, Sterk said. Were not a campus of turmoil. Obviously in every place, theres issues, but I feel very good about this as a place that I can be a part of. I can help, and we can help grow and heal and move forward, and Im excited about that.Interim Chancellor Hank Foley introduced Sterk and his wife, Debra, to a room of Tiger faithful that included former football coach Gary Pinkel and current coach Barry Odom.Sterk replaces Mack Rhoades, whose tenure lasted just 15 months. It was marked by campus upheaval that resulted in the removal of the university system president and chancellor following student protests, including a prominent promise of a boycott from members of the football team, a stance Pinkel supported. Rhoades is taking over at Baylor. In his opening remarks, Sterk called Missouri a destination job, stressing a long-term commitment to the program.Im excited to represent the flagship institution of the great state of Missouri, said Sterk, a 1980 graduate of Western Washington whose wife is a Missouri native. We dont jump around. Thats not us. We made this decision to stay here long-term, and so I have no intention of leaving.Sterk served as athletic director at Portland State from 1995-2000 and at Washington State from 2000-2010 before stepping into the same position at San Diego State. His official start date is Aug. 22.Foley led the search for Rhoades replacement in conjunction with the Collegiate Sports Associates search firm.In thinking about this hire, I looked for people who would tell me that Jims reputation was too good to be true, but to honest I couldnt find them, Foley said. Instead, Ive heard words like `highly seasoned, `inordinate passion, `uniquely gifted. All the attributes of a prudent athletic and academic leader.Sterk is regarded as an exceptional fundraiser, having more than doubled San Diego States athletic scholarship fund during his seven-year tenure with the school.Im so excited about what his plans are leadership-wise, said Odom. The decisions that we make are going to affect this place for a long time, and Im glad to have a partnership with him that will work well, and get started.Sterk was named 2016 AD of the year by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics and holds a seat on the NCAA Division I Mens Basketball Committee. However, he revealed Thursday he will have to vacate that seat. Kentuckys Mitch Barnhart already holds a seat on the committee, and per NCAA rules, only one representative from each conference may occupy a seat on the committee at a time. Ty Rattie Jersey. The defence is doing its part, too. Drew Brees threw a pair of touchdown passes in the first half and the guys on the other side made sure that was enough, sending the Saints to a 17-13 victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday night. Alex Pietrangelo Jersey. Its sharpness matched my mind. This was no night to go to sleep. http://www.blueshockeypro.com/authentic-shayne-corson-blues-jersey/. No. 13-seeded John Isner and No. 21 Philipp Kohlschreiber were among six players who dropped out of the tournament on Tuesday, joining No. 12 seed Tommy Haas and two other players who withdrew on Monday. Wayne Gretzky Jersey. With Parker having a quiet game for once, Nicolas Batum and Boris Diaw provided the scoring as France won its first major basketball title by beating Lithuania 80-66 on Sunday. It was a victory that ended a decade of frustration for Parker and a talented French generation, which lost the final against Spain two years ago and took bronze in 2005. Pierre Turgeon Blues Jersey. Spiller left Week 3s 27-20 loss to the New York Jets with a thigh injury, but fully practiced with the team all week and expects to be ready to go on Sunday. IRVINE, Calif. -- On the night before the Los Angeles Rams first public practice of training camp, coach Jeff Fisher warned his players to be prepared for a crazy welcome. The Rams still were impressed Saturday when thousands of screaming, chanting fans showed up to herald the start of a new era.I didnt know it was going to be like that, running back Todd Gurley said. It was pretty cool to have everybody come out.The Rams went through a long workout in front of fans who gathered hours early at UC Irvine and hung out until the late afternoon in the breezy Orange County heat. The school and the Rams counted 10,112 fans in attendance. They filled three large bleachers and a stretch of upscale tents surrounding the teams two practice fields, and others walked through a small fair behind the stands featuring food, games and merchandise in both the Rams current colors and the traditional LA blue and yellow-gold.Southern California has regained its appetite for the NFL after a 21-year absence, and the Rams fans showed up in force for the latest in a series of welcome-home moments culminating in the home opener at the Coliseum on Sept. 18.It was great, Fisher said. We gathered (the players) up right before we got started, just to calm them down. When the atmosphere is the way it was, and the environment and the fans and the support, theres a tendency to go a little bit quicker earlier than you should in practice. We wanted to make sure they got warmed up.While fans came from all over the Southland for the first of many open practices, Orange County has particularly deep ties to the Rams. The team moved from the Coliseum in 1980 to play its final 15 seasons at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, with Eric Dickerson setting the NFLs single-season rushing record there on Dec. 9, 1984.The Rams trained at UC Irvine for three of their final four seasons in Anaheim, including their final camp in 1994 before the move to St. Louis. They used the same fields and the same locker room as the current Rams, who will be on campus for five weeks while their permanent in-season training complex is completed in Thousand Oaks.Fisher was the Rams defensive coordinator in 1991 when they held camp in Irvine.Personally, Im excited to be back, Fisher said. Its 1991 sincee I was on this campus.dddddddddddd Trees are much taller. Things look different, but its certainly great to be back. While they have thousands of fans who never left them, the Rams also have a novelty factor that has long since evaporated in St. Louis.Los Angeles fans havent been worn down by the Rams 11-year playoff drought and 12 consecutive non-winning seasons. They didnt see Marc Bulger, Sam Bradford, Nick Foles and all of the other quarterbacks who tried and failed to coax consistent success out of the club. But with No. 1 draft pick Jared Goff taking snaps under the California sun, the Rams looked and felt renewed. There were a lot of people out there, Goff said. The music was bumping, and people were excited. Were starting the real season now, so youve got to get the jitters out and get comfortable.Game notes Tre Mason was placed on the Did Not Report list, and Fisher revealed that the backup running back has refused to speak with him or the Rams during an offseason of legal troubles. Mason, who rushed for 207 yards last season, was arrested in Florida in March on suspicion of reckless driving, marijuana possession and other charges. I havent personally spoken with Tre since the season ended, Fisher said. I tried numerous times to reach him. Tre has made a decision not to communicate with us, not to talk. Not talking to his teammates. Right now were more concerned about Tre Masons well-being than we are his football career. ... S T.J. McDonald rejoined the Rams after missing much of their offseason workouts. The USC product was arrested in May in Woodland Hills on suspicion of driving under the influence of a substance other than alcohol. He didnt provide an update on his legal status, calling his incident an accident. ... Its something that Ive put behind me. Im definitely in a good place right now. ... Promising RT Rob Havenstein is on the physically unable to perform list with a foot injury. Fisher said hell need maybe a few weeks before returning.---Online:AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and AP NFL Twitter feed: http://twitter.com/AP-NFL---Follow Greg Beacham at www.twitter.com/gregbeacham Wholesale Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Authentic Jerseys From China Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys ' ' '
